5 Ways to Stay Positive and Practice Self-Love

read all about it

Hiya Gorgeous!

There’s a lot going on in the world and in our lives at the moment. No matter what life throws our way, we have the choice to go high or low—to elevate our energy or to sink into negativity. All of life’s challenges—from a national tragedy to our daily personal struggles—are calling us to rise up and be our best selves. We’re being asked to show compassion for ourselves and others.

But it’s easy to get sucked into negative thought patterns. When the world feels out of control, it’s a signal that it’s time to pay extra attention to self-love, to be extra good to yourself and others.

Maybe that means canceling a commitment that’s stressing you out and spreading you too thin. Or doing a random act of kindness for a stranger. You never know!

One little action taken with love can have a chain reaction that gets someone out of feeling lonely and back on their feet.

So if you’re feeling like your soul needs a pick-me-up, I’m here to help you turn things around. We all want the world to be a peaceful and gentle place. We want to be fully present and relaxed in our lives—but we’ve gotta support our own health and wellness in order to do that. We create a peaceful world by first creating calm and serenity within ourselves.

When I need to take care of myself, but I’m not sure exactly how to do it, I ask for guidance from my Crazy Sexy Love Notes deck. These cards always lead me back to the path of self-love, patience, and gentleness. Sometimes you can shake off stress just by shifting your perspective.

Accept yourself

While there’s a time and place for self-improvement, today’s focus is on everything that’s already great about you. Let go of who you think you should be and fall madly in love with who you are in this moment. When you accept yourself exactly as you are, you shift from living for tomorrow to appreciating today. Accept yourself, sweetheart.

Risk it

Great things are born from those brave enough to fly—those who are willing to risk failure. Your dreams require action, and you’re ready to make a move. Remember you have nothing to lose. Even if you flop, you’ll receive valuable insight. So get off your butt and take a leap. Go for it!

It’s time to rise

No matter what’s happening in our lives, we always have the potential to rise above it. Rising is one powerful choice away. Rise out of our negative thoughts or our limiting beliefs. Rise out of our comfort zone or our complaints. Rise out of our slump or out of the potato chip bag. Get up and rise. What are you waiting for, darling?

Nourish yourself

Have you been using food to numb rather than nourish? Be honest. If so, break that pattern today. Show your cells that you care by choosing healthy, wholesome foods made with love. Eat your veggies, make a green juice, and toast to your longevity. Cheers!

You are healing

Healing happens in seasons. It can’t be rushed or forced to fit a schedule. So often we curse the seeds that haven’t taken root, failing to realize it’s not their time. They need more water, sunlight, and care. Bullying ourselves blocks regeneration. Also, sometimes the healing we’re focused on isn’t the healing that’s taking place. There’s a much deeper healing going on. Be patient, dear one. You are healing.

I hope these messages add a little more calm and connection to your day. You deserve to soak in as much joy, delight and love as possible—that way you can spread positivity around to others and pay it forward!

Your turn: Which message resonates with you the most?

Peace and love,

    Kris
I’m scared. I’ve got stage IV metastatic breast cancer and I’m looking for my way through this. I cry a lot and want to be “normal” again. I’m just not sure what to do with my life now that I’m not working 40+ hours a week and stressing over everything. Such a shock and a huge change. Please help me get started.
    Thank you

  3. Fiona Ross says:

Hi Kris, I watched your movie last night. I was diagnosed in November with lung EHE. Trying to get my head in the mental game of an incurable, chronic cancer and get as many thriving years as you.

  4. Janet says:

I loved “it’s time to rise” and, the reminder to nourish oneself. It’s been said that for evil to flourish, good men (and may I add women) stand by and do nothing. But we don’t have to. We are better than that. There’s much good in the world, and we can be apart of that, and, we can make it better. For me, nourishing myself provides the support and energy necessary to do this. These notes have made me more determined to be my best me & do what I can to “rise up”, be an example and, help others. Kris, I love your e-mails and blogs because they help me to do this. Such a wonderful and positive support. Thank you!!

  8. Chris says:

Thanks for all that you do. I love the way you share your life with honesty and love on all levels (the highs and the lows)
The card for me was accept myself. This has been my journey for most of the year like no other.

  9. Esra says:

All five messages were great and so true (with so lovely cards and pictures too! love the flowers, the autumn leaves, the gems, the unicorns, the rabbits among the radish plants and the birds :-)), each one had something to whisper in my soul’s ear… but “You are healing” and “It’s time to rise” resonated so deeply with me, through the pictures and through your words.
I guess we all have something to heal at the core of our lives, that’s probably why many of us seem to have been touched by “Healing”. These were exactly the words I needed to hear tonight, just in the way you wrote them, just in the way they got here. “Healing happens in seasons”… “There’s a much deeper healing going on. Be patient, dear one. You are healing”: I love it… My heart loves this sweet melody!
Healing ourselves in seasons… and the world heals with us.
Getting up and rising… and the world rises with us.
Thank you so much for bringing back a smile on my face today dear Kris 🙂
You are such a beautiful soul! Many thanks for all the love and inspiration…
Sending much love back at you from France!

  10. Ren says:

You are such a gift to the world, Kris. xoxo

  11. Giovanna Minda says:

    Hi Kris,
Your blogs are the best! Like others have said, I wouldn’t pass them up! Though all the cards resonated, You are Healing was the one that drew me in and made a bigger impact. I’m doing so much self care and want to see the healing results much quicker. I really needed to read this today. Thank you, as always, for being such a beautiful light. xoxo Giovanna

  12. Julie Ingalls says:

Thanks so much for these, Kris! They all spoke to me! (I loved the potato chip bag reference!)
    You’re the best!
Time for me to not be so full of fear and take risks and soar!!! (All while sipping on a yummy green drink, of course!)
    You’re the best!
    Love ya!!

  13. My preschoolers love picking a love note card everyday! I do them for my staff on Fridays and any other time they need it. The kiddo’s in my school have learned that this is available to them as well, they just have to ask.
Risk it! is the card I am drawn to and I know why….
    Thanks Bella,
    J

  14. Andrea says:

Like many of the people posting, you were healing is the one that struck me. So much so that I copied and paste it onto my iPad so I can read it several times today. The healing seems to be going slowly but it’s good to have a reminder that it is happening

  15. Gail Mendenhall says:

Risk it resonated the most. I’m in a Health Coach training program with IIN, and it is a new beginning for me , as elk as a willingness to take risks!. I needed a plan B after 40 years as a dental hygienist, and since I’m passionate and driven to be my best self and also am a breast cancer survivor, I decided doing this is taking a risk and also having faith that all will work out for my highest good! I have yet to figure out how I Will generate business of my own, or perhaps with others in healthcare. So I’m working at positive thoughts and affirmations that whatever I need will come to me! I read affirmations daily and receive notifications from Gratefulness.org in my email every day with affirmations about wisdom and gratefulness.
Letting go of fear is a big one as well as forgiveness and speaking my truth.
You inspire me in the way you live your life . Thank you for the LOVE!

    • kris says:

You’re amazing! Keep it up! xo, kc

    • Kathy G says:

To Gail – your post caught my attention as I learn more and more each day about self love along with taking care of our planet and last but not least our lives as well (and what’s best for our bodies!) I’m a dental hygienist as well going on 30 years and I had checked out the Health Coach Training but had decided to consider that in the future. I’m even considering looking into working with a ‘natural bio dentist’ as I’m question more things that are done in the general practice world. Kudos to you for moving forward with your thoughts & desires! Wish you the best on your jouney and the best to Kris as well for putting yourself ‘out there’ to share your amazing self care and love. Always look forward to messages from Kris..so uplifting! Thank you for being there and being you!

  16. Sam says:

Thank you Kris – your emails always seem to pop up like magic , just when i need them. Thank YOU sweetheart. Peace and love backatcha. Love from Hamburg, Germany

  17. Michele says:

You are healing really resonates right now but not for me, for someone else close to me. A good reminder I need to be there for them and remind them that I am.

  18. Kat says:

Of all the email newsletters and blog posts I get, I always read yours to the end. No skimming over the fluff or repeat topics with yours. Each message is written with care and love, and I know something will resonate with me when I need to hear it. Thank you.

  19. Jen says:

The one that’s calling me: You Are Healing. I’ve been so focused on healing, affirming that “come what may, I am on the path of healing.” It definitely doesn’t always show up the way you think it will! Learning to trust and honor the process, and stay with it, keep showing up for myself in all the ways that feel good. Thanks for this lovely inspiration, Kris. xo

  20. Chris Mcfadden says:

The big one for me is I am Healing. This was really written for me and it has touched me really deeply.
Thank you so much. They all resonated with me actually.

  21. Jenny Porter says:

The healing card resonates with me most. More because of what it says about it not being a seed’s time when it doesn’t take root so quickly. Not only is that true with healing, but in almost all aspects of our lives!! I needed that reminder today

  22. Jill Hogan says:

Thank you Kris, you are an inspiration, Bless you in your work

  23. Emily says:

Risk It. That’s defintiely the one for me today. I have my first date this week since my divorce a year ago. So nervous…keep wanting to cancel to avoid the possible awkwardness. My sister said keep reminding me that it’s all just practice and like your post says, I’ve got nothing to lose! Wish me luck!
