Hiya Gorgeous!
The first-ever Healing Cancer World Summit was a beautiful, healing, heart-expanding whirlwind. I loved chatting with many of you on social media, and in the comments here and over on the summit site. Your curiosity and commitment to your health never cease to amaze me! Using the results from this event, I compiled a modern-day guide for navigating cancer that you can find here.
This experience reminded me that together, we can fill up the universe with hope and love—for cancer patients, for people struggling and for ourselves. Hope is what we really need, and we have the power to choose it over fear. Isn’t that comforting?
I’ve long dreamed about creating something like this for you. I was so focused on making it the most valuable, uplifting event about cancer you’ve ever attended that I regularly got caught up on my role as interviewer and producer. I often had to pause and remind myself that I’m a patient who needs this information, too. And once I did that, I learned so much.
I could go on and on about my many takeaways, but one in particular stands out from the rest. It caused me to take a long, hard look at my healing priorities. And the new commitment I’ve made as a result has become my current health focus. I’m sharing it with you today because I hope you’ll make this commitment, too!
I’m promising to do everything I can to drastically reduce stress in my life.
You’re my witness! I’ve known for a long time that stress leads to inflammation and inflammation leads to disease. But because I’m so stubborn, and don’t always apply what I teach to my own practice, I needed the reminder.
I get caught up in work and life and future tripping just like anyone else. And when I forget to do what I need to reduce stress, it really takes a toll on me. It impacts my sleep, I don’t exercise as much, my diet isn’t as great and I forget to prioritize what really matters (nature, my friends, family and sanity). The result: My joy shrinks and my immune system tanks. When I’m in that place, it feels like I’m standing at the foot of an unscalable mountain and I might never get to the other side (I bet you’ve been there at some point, too).
Not convinced yet that stress is serious business? Almost every single one of the 20 experts I spoke with for the Summit—doctors, wellness experts, nutritionists, spiritual teachers and patients alike—echoed this truth in some form. These quotes in particular were huge a-ha moments for me, and I think they’re gonna resonate with you, too.
The moment Iyanla dropped this powerful nugget of wisdom, I knew it would be with me forever.
If we spend our precious time stressing, we can’t possibly be truly living. So, take a moment and check in with yourself. Is stress eating up your life? How often do you experience that unmistakable feeling of cortisol flooding your system—the blood pressure rising, the knot in your gut?
Now, to be clear, I don’t want you to stress about stress. It’s completely normal and sometimes you just gotta let those feelings flow. But taking simple steps to reduce stress, even in ways that may seem small or insignificant, can lead to big shifts. Because remember, you are a wonderful being with so much magic to share with the world and stress does nothing but dim your shine.
Not sure where to start?
Here are 4 Simple Ways to Reduce Stress:
1. Meditate
I know you’ve heard this one from me before, but even 5 minutes a day can make a difference in your life. Iyanla’s Summit lesson (and several other sessions, for that matter!) includes an amazing meditation that you can use again and again.
2. Tap
Nick Ortner, my good friend and CEO of the Tapping Solution, was another one of my fabulous Summit guests. EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques or “tapping”) is a quick, simple way to get grounded and turn down the volume on your stress. Nick even walks you through a couple of quick tapping exercises in his lesson!
3. Use essential oils
This is my go-to way to reduce stress in a pinch. Lavender may not address the root of an issue, but it does wonders for restoring balance and clearing my mind when I need to reset.
4. Spend time in nature
My daily walks are a tried and true stress reducer. They range from anywhere between 10 minutes to an hour. The length of time doesn’t matter, the consistency does. When I don’t take time in nature to clear my head and center my thoughts, I’m less stress resilient.
I love this quote from my wise dad.
Many of us spend a lot of time anticipating tomorrow, next week, next month, next year. But the truth is that no matter how much sleep we lose, it’s not going to change the outcome. All we do by creating these stories is distract ourselves from living in the present moment.
That doesn’t mean that we don’t have agency over our futures—we absolutely do! But positivity and love are far more powerful than stress. So, from now on, every time I catch myself worrying about what’s next, I’m going to do my best to replace those thoughts with positive affirmations. Will you join me?
Try saying one of these affirmations (or one of your own!) out loud next time you need to reduce stress:
- “I will be ok, no matter what.”
- “Everything is unfolding exactly as it needs to.”
- “I have the love and support I need to get through this.”
There was a lot of talk about how important it is to reduce stress throughout the Summit, but a few guests really drove home how much damage it can do to our systems if we don’t. One of those brilliant individuals was Penny Block, PhD, co-founder of the Block Center for Integrative Cancer Treatment and expert in biobehavioral health. That means she’s super knowledgeable about how our thoughts impact our health, and she could not have been more clear about chronic stress—it wreaks havoc on our systems.
Stress can influence everything from the way our genes behave to the success of our healing efforts.
The simple truth is that no matter how much kale you eat, how many vitamins you take and hours you spend exercising, you can’t be truly healthy if you’re constantly in fight or flight mode. That’s why I’m hoping you’ll join me in thinking of stress reduction as an essential part of your healing or prevention plan—right up there with green juice and surrounding yourself with super smart docs like Penny.
And there’s one final quote I want to leave you with. This one isn’t from the Summit interviews themselves, but from our very own Summit angel—Louise Hay. She was by my side through all of the planning, strategizing, interviewing, filming and writing. During my interview with Robert Holden, PhD, a Hay House author Louise adored, his lights started flickering. You can hear it happen in our interview from Day 6. It was an unforgettable moment and we both got crazy goosebumps. No doubt, Louise was with us then and still is today.
Louise always encouraged me to take my healing further, and I hope this gem does the same for you:
“I realize that stress is only fear. I now release all fears.”
Isn’t it wild how something so simple can turn your perspective on its head?
Next time you’re in the stress weeds and feel like you can’t find your way out, I hope you’ll remember this. Yes—stress is scary. It can be quite sneaky and convincing. But you don’t have to believe those thoughts. You can release them and ask the universe for something else—for love, for strength and for whatever you need to protect your precious self.
Your turn: Can we make a pact? I’m committing to do everything I can to reduce stress in my life—will you join me? Give me “I’m with you!” in the comments below.
Peace and sweet relief,
I’m with you ?! thank you for this truly important focus. I get the diet and exercise and water right and always put off the stress reduction which affects my sleep. 3 outta 5 pillars done! 2 more to go! ?
My daughter bought me a drink mixer recently. She bought me some very expensive flaxseed oil and organic whey protein. Can I just add ice and fruit? What am I missing? Suggestions would be appreciated. My finances are unfortunately very limited, so I cannot afford programs or materials that are very expensive. I don’t drink caffeine, soda or alcohol and a few years ago eliminated tobacco. I’m trying…
Hey Virginia! This is Jennifer from Team Crazy Sexy. You have so many options for smoothies (and juices). Here is a great link to an article Kris wrote that will provide some helpful information. https://kriscarrnewsletter.com/blog/difference-between-juicing-vs-blending/
And Kris has so many great recipes on the site as well. Check them out here: https://kriscarrnewsletter.com/blog/recipes/juices-smoothies/
Happy blending!
Better late than never but I’m with you. Feel so stressed all the time. Need to change a lot of behaviors in my life. Thanks for all your wisdom. Xo
I am with you my dear, all the way. Love Karen
Je suis avec toi. Merci ! Bless.
I am with you:-)
Kris, Thousands of thanks from the bottom of my heart, for being you, for everything you do. You are absolutely gorgeous and beautiful.
Lovliest Love and Lightest Light to you.

Hi Chris, I’m also with you. I realize that stress playes a huge role in my live, mostly mental stress! Negative thoughts have such a big impact. I find it very difficult to get rid of those. Secondly I also noticed that I’m feeling too lonely and without purpose since my children are out of the house and far away in Germany while I live in Namibia.
I guess there is a lot of stress to get rid of ?
Thank you for having made this summit possible and all the supporting posts. Thanks that you are here!
I am with you xx
It was an amazing summit with more wisdom & strength than you can fit in a bottle. Good thing that our capacity to grow, like love, grows as need nesceitates.
I wanted to share the title of a book that helped me gain a foothold by putting fear & anxiety in its proper perspective. In the book The Fear Cure, the author explains that there are only 2 emotions at the ends of the spectrum. We would think them to be love and hate / anger. Right? Nope! She says they are fear and freedom. She goes on to say that fear in the past is depression and fear in the future is anxiety. SO insightful!
I’m gonna mess this up, but it reminds me of the religious quote / prayer that says something like: God give me the knowledge to know the choices I can make vs those I cannot, and give me the wisdom to choose wisely.
I am with you, thank you for all your wisdom ??
You continue to be a huge inspiration to me … going on 10-11 years. Thank you for being you, and sharing your experience to help others!
I’m with you!
The Healing Cancer World Summit was amazing. It has answered so many of my questions as well as to guide me to the next steps. Although many members of my family have had cancer, I have a degenerative disease and found The Summit to be extremely valuable in providing information, strategies, techniques, signposts AND above all hope & inspiration. Love your interviewing style, questions were spot on and even more than this I love your vulnerability, honesty & courage. Yes, I also need to refocus stress management too. I’m in. ? Gratitude & love to you always. Chrissy
I have a friend diagnosed with DUCTAL CARCINOMA IN SITU. Can you please tell me where I can find info on this as she is gearin up to remove breasts but I heard on 1 of your interviews that this is NOT EVEN CANCER?? Please help.
I’m with you all the way ??
I am with you! ???
I’m with you!!! The overarching lesson about reducing stress was my biggest takeaway too, so much so that I bought the whole summit in order to keep listening. I was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, spent the summer in chemo and doing the Crazy Sexy You program to keep my eating on track, and now your summit comes along just as I have to negotiate the fact that my cancer is more aggressive than previously thought. Being able to listen every night this past week was a godsend. Thank you SO MUCH for producing this. Many blessings to you my friend!
THANK YOU, Kris! For this and for everything. The summit filled me up, inspired me, and gave me so much hope.
I’m blown away by the amazing summit you produced . I listened to it all week long and it is just what I need and I’m sure others too . You are a gift to us all. G-d bless you !!
I’m with you! 🙂
I’m with you!
I’m with you!! Thank you so much dearest Kris, for all you’ve done.
I’M WITH YOU!!!!
I’’ am woth you!!!! I loved the summit!!!!!!!!! Great!
Thanks for this Kris. This is really what i need. I am a worrier and stress does eat me up. I was recently diagnose of a stage2a breast cancer, triple negative. The healing summit was an eye opener for me. I learned a lot. This is a life changing.
I’m with you!
I have recently learned that the Lord knows what’s best for me. Therefore, I have decided to let go and let God. I don’t need to worry anymore about what the Lord has in mind for me. I only need to be concerned with the fact that the Lord will help me through all my challenges because he loves me, and is constantly watching over me.
I am a cancer survivor. I had breast cancer six years ago and did not do radiation or chemo therapy. I allowed God to work in His way to teach me what to do. All the webinars I have listened to and watched, and all the cancer books I have read have shown me the way. I owe all that to God and am so grateful for all the people who have contributed to that knowledge and practice. And, I am so grateful for their sharing with all of us who needed that so desperately.
I am with you!
I stopped work to focus on my health after 30 plus years of caretaking.
Stress is not my friend ?
I am just starting to hear what my body truly needs….Louise Hay, Robert Holden and YOU have all helped me immensely . Thank you ❤️
I AM WITH YOU KRIS!!!
I was just diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and I feel stress was a HUGE contributor to its development. Learning to control stress is so important.
I’m with you (from Belgium)
I’m with you! I believe reducing stress is so true. I didn’t realize how stressed out I really was, not just from the diagnosis but the financial burden of a good holistic doctor, not to mention all the other stressor’s in my life. I’ve never meditated before so i’m going to start searching Youtube for something that suits me. Any idea’s? I would love to purchase the video’s but it’s not financially possible but I am not going to let that stress me out! Thank you for all this wonderful information and God Bless you!
Wow – the quote from your Dad about worry – snap it’s what my Dad has always told me too! And it’s true. Hooray for wise and awesome Dads xx
I’m with you!!!
At age 48, as an on-again-off-again-School Counselor turned stay at home Mom, my life was upended by a boatload of bilateral breast cancer… I was blessed to have not only an incredible health care team but an oncology social worker schooled in so many amazing mind-body-spirit practices… and her first suggestion was to read “Crazy Sexy Cancer!” As the universe would have it, several years later my number one Angel on Earth Mom was diagnosed with aggressive Stage 3 Lymphoma, and I had to switch hats to caretaker/navigator… My own cancer journey all made sense, as I hit the ground running, knowing what great care looks like and how so much “medicine” doesn’t come in a bottle! I am indebted to you and those you introduced me to via the Summit, for taking on your mission! My life’s ambition is now to help others thrive during and after a cancer experience. Much gratitude for the wealth of love and healing generated from your work!
I’m with you Kris 🙂
Amen to that stress reduction commitment. I’m in!
I’m with you!!
Thanks a lot Kris! It was very helpfull to hear I am on the right path for me to come out of my cancerpatient-feeling. Physically it is taken away, but I have a lot of work to do with…stress and fear ? The first thing to do is not to stress about my stress?
I’m with you!
Many loving greetings from Belgium ?❤️
I am with you! thank you so much for the wonderful summit. IN the spirit of seeing the gift in less the great news. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and I got the email about eh summit and signed up. In the hope of helping her but selfishly in the hope that I don’t get it either. The summit has been a great resource and a great reminder especially what your dad said – worry isn’t going to change the outcome. Thank you so much for the gift of this summit. I loved it.
I am with you!
I’m with you <3
I have been enjoying listening and learning from your wonderful summit – and have enjoyed your books, card deck, and emails.
Thank-You for being your amazing self and sharing these gifted messages with us!
I have been effected by cancer in my life as well … my grandma, mother-in-law, friends, aunts, uncles, and even two of my furbabies, either have or had cancer.
I chose to listen to your summit as one who wanted to hear how to help ease fear, grief, stress, and how to improve my nutrition, and increase self-love. The messages I have heard came at the perfect divine time in my life, I am very grateful and appreciative!! I'm with you on the stress stuff! My own body and mind have been on a roller coaster ride of poor health this year due to my own stubbornness … hee hee … and my own denial, stuffing of emotions and allowing the gremlins ( as wonderful Brene Brown would call them ) to override.
Listening to your summit and vulnerable ah ha moments and life experiences, has reminded me to trust, believe, know I'm not alone and to have faith in my own healing.
Thank-you again Kris, you are a beacon of Love and Light!! XOXO
I’m with you! (I’m sure putting on this massive summit wasn’t stressful at all was it??? HA)
I totally agree about the walks outside no matter their length!
Thank you for sharing your wisdom and your love as always.
I’m with you!!
I love that last quote., “I realize that stress is only fear, I now release all fears”. That is also biblical., God says in the Bible, “turn all your worries and fears in to me”., easier said than done right.? But like you said, we need to make a conscious effort reminding ourselves to do that. Another wise statement I love ? is, “give no attention to things we cannot change “. Peace to all of us ?
Totally recommitted! I’m with you❤️
I am with you, Kris. I so need stress relief, too. Thank you.
I’m with you.
I commit, to work daily, on reducing and learning to manage the way I react to stress in my daily life.
Being a single, senior mom, of a special needs adult child, causes an enormous amount of daily stress. Constant fear, of breast cancer recurrence, causes an enormous amount of stress. Low income, causes a huge amount of stress. Managing it throughout the day, is nearly impossible. I do try, but getting there, has not happened. ?
Amen! I’m so with you and all the others who realize we can do this! Bless you and our beloved Louise! Thank you so much all of your love you continue to share with the world, Kris.
I’m with you, Kris!
I am with you.
I have been dealing with stress all my life. Thank you for your words and thank you for the Summit. You maybe don’t know, but you are my teacher and I really believe in everything you say. ❤️
Love from Chihuahua, México.
I listen to a few of the interviews and they were wonderful. It is so amazing how stress/joy are so important to our health. I am currently at yoga therapy student and have been exploring teaching yoga for diabetes/prediabetes. The focus is all on stress reduction because of the cortisol production produced from yoga and it’s tools. I had no idea how powerful/ detrimental too much cortisol was until I started my program and Start exploring my own healing journey with being prediabetic. Daily, I am making shifts in my life. But now I realize the Reduction of stress and focus on joy and love are truly the most important shift to make! I love the affirmation you posted in your blog. To take it a step farther, a friend of mine told me an acronym that her grandma taught her when she was little girl:
FEAR. False. Evidence Appearing Real. This is something I have been reminding myself ever since I heard. Going through divorce and a bankruptcy and starting life all over at 55 there has been much FEAR that’s been through my mind. Sometimes I go a little too far down the “rabbit hole“ with it. But this quote has really help me get through trouble times. Just wanted to share with you. Thank you for this truly mind blowing somebody put together. It was absolutely beautiful. You are blessed angel on earth. Love, Nina
Stress (anxiety) is a major concept in Bowen Family Systems Theory which I have been studying for the past 25 years. It is another avenue in understanding how stress is a significant component in our lives.
I’m with you.
I am with you! So powerful and blessed to be a part of this summit! Thank you, Kris
I’m with you you Kris!
I’m with you!! I love and trust you so much, Kris!!
Love you right back, Trish! xo
Dear Kris
I want to thank you for the wonderful gift you have bestowed upon us with this summit and I want to say how very much I admire you for the sharing and work you do.
I had a mastectomy 27 years ago and when I left the hospital I was invited to talk with other cancer patients and share my experience. Unlike you I was too fearful to do this.
I have wept through every day of the summit and have learned so much not only about illness but about myself and I thank you with all my heart. Some speakers I was able to listen to twice and some I missed altogether but this week has been an incredible learning experience
I am not able to purchase the programme just now but wanted to thank you for all you do and the beautiful soul that you are. May blessings abound for you.
Thank you for your sweet words, Marjorie. Please remember that it’s ok to feel fear—I’ve been there! Let your intuition guide you. If and when the time comes that you’re ready to help other patients, go for it! Or, you can help by sending lots of healing thoughts into the universe. Whatever you do, the world is so blessed to have you in it. xo!
I am with you!!! Diagnosed with breast canser on Sept 21st – several biopsies and scans and tests. Had surgery on Oct 15th – and then your summit came out on the 17th. I bought the program and will follow it all to the best of my ability. Love you, Kris
I’m so sorry you’re facing this challenge, Karen. My heart goes out to you and I’m sending you lot of positive, healing thoughts. I hope the Summit brings you some helpful tips and inspiration. Lots of love and hugs!
Thank you Kris! (And Louise Haye ) ? Your interview with Robert Holden really spoke to me yesterday. You and Hay House authors are a true inspiration and grateful the universe sent them my way ❤️.
Isn’t Robert just the best, Monica? I love his message of self-love and acceptance. I’m so glad to hear you felt that way, too. Sending you lots of love.
Loving the summit you created, Kris! Thank you so much. So many take-a-ways! ????
Terry, I’m so happy you’re enjoying the Summit! I hope you come away with lots of great tools. xo
I’m with you!
Woohoo! Couldn’t be happy to hear that, Ann. xo
Thank you so much for this post! Stress is my companion these days. I was so overwhelmed this morning and then I get your sweet email. In addition to all the wonderful things you are, I think you are also telepathic 🙂 I loved reading the post, wrote down the 4 ways to reduce stress (looked at all the attached videos and shared immediately with those I know who need this), and spent some time tapping. Now on to making this a DAILY HABIT. You and the universe are my witness. Love and health!!! Ana
So happy this came at the right time for you, Ana. Love ya!
I am with you, dear and precious Kris!
Yessss! Sending lots of stress-free vibes your way, sweetheart. xo
thank you Carr for you your great information that you send to me often. I feel like we’ve known each other for many years now since you have been my online health teacher. God bless you.
Thanks for sharing that with me, Joe. I’m so glad you’re here with me! xo
“I’m with YOU!”
Love it, Jessica. Hugs!
What an extraordinary summit! Gratefully, I am someone in the category of passionate about wellness. I listened to the summit as a way to be further committed to all my practices that have evolved over the years. And yes stress still can overwhelm me until I come back to what I know. And After my 26 year journey on this wellness path after a wake up call, I urge people to look into Wisdom Healing ChiGong….my go to practice that has become the icing on the cake and the practice to thaw deep inside too. Transformation is life long….and I am 76 in a few days!!!YIKES!
Thanks for the suggestion, Annie! I’ll check that out. And happy almost birthday to YOU! xo
I’m with you!
?Fabulous, Wendy! xo
I’m with you, Kris! Stress is like a vampire! However, thanks to Nick Ortner, I have made a commitment to his “Tapping Technique!” And the beautiful quote by your precious father is very comforting to me! My own “Daddy,” once said to me years ago, prior to his passing, “Sweetheart, if worrying would change things for you, I would tell you to worry all day long, however, it DOES NOT CHANGE A THING!” Thank you so very much for sharing your life-changing Summit! I am filled with GRATITUDE!
Love that you’re tapping, Dee Dee! It has really saved me in so many situations.
Isn’t dad wisdom just the best? Your pops sounds like a wonderful guy. xo!
I’m with you! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and inspiration so effectively!
Happy to hear this resonated with you—and that you’re with me, Tamara! xo
I loved this post. I have not been able to watch one interview yet BUT I did purchase it so it’s waiting for me. Lots of issues going on right now and I knew I would not have time. I look forward to enjoying each one of them plus the extras I got when things calm down.
Love your dad’s quote – I will print it and put it on my bathroom mirror *grin* with all my other positive quotes.
Thank you a million times Kris, for all that you do for so many. I’m forever grateful.
Do you ever wonder if you were put on this path on Valentine’s day so many years ago so that when your dad was diagnosed with cancer, you would be there for him with all the answers?
I’m sorry to hear you’re going through a lot right now, Vic. It’ll be great for you to have the Summit to keep so you can listen at your own pace.
I do sometimes think that the reason I got sick was so we’d have half a clue about what to do when my dad was diagnosed. I’m so grateful for all of the knowledge we had stored up and ready to use.
Thanks for your kind words—I’m so grateful for you, too. xo!
I’m with you!
So glad you are, Tracey! Mwah!
I am with you ?Love Peace and Gratitude
That’s wonderful, Debbie! xo
