Hiya Gorgeous,
How do you start your day? Does your first waking thought stress you out? Do you spend mornings feeling frazzled?
How often do you wake up, turn on the TV, and immediately check your phone, send an email, then a text? Maybe you check social media, freak out over something you read, and end up feeling bad about your response?
Between checking your digital feeds, there are the kids to feed and lunches to pack. You pour a third cup of very strong coffee and send another email—all before 7am. Is that really how you want to live your life?
Your Morning Routine Shapes Your Day
Yes, I know we’re busy people, but can you see how a schedule like this could kickstart adrenaline? I sure can. I have my own variation of this story and it’s just as chaotic. When I hit the ground running, I generally feel unstable!
So every morning I have a routine that I use to untangle anxious thoughts and set positive intentions for the day. I think of it as time to connect with myself and charge my batteries.
That’s why I want to pass along a few self care ideas for creating a morning routine you’ll love. That way, you can start your day with activities that feed your energy. It’s not selfish to invest in your wonderful self, my friend. You’re your #1 asset and if you want to live fully, you’ve got to fill your tank!
1. Start your morning the night before.
The best morning rituals start the night before. So, start your morning by writing down your to-do list before you go to bed. Taking time to jot down your important tasks for the next day helps you wake up and begin your day with focus and intention. Believe me, it will make a big difference in your daily life.
2. Begin your morning routine with a gentle alarm.
If you need to set the alarm clock, make sure it’s soft and sweet. There’s nothing worse for your adrenals than the blaring sound of an obnoxious alarm that immediately leaves you feeling stressed. Instead, choose something like a subtle chime that slowly brings you back into consciousness. Good morning, angel.
3. Kickstart your day with a happy outlook.
You don’t have to be a morning person to kickstart your day with some positive thinking. This is the perfect time to connect with your soul. Our first moments are our most open and sacred. They are the bridge between the subconscious and conscious mind.
If you’re like me, it probably takes a few minutes to feel present and in your body. Rather than tuning into the outside noise, go inside first. Silently give thanks and show yourself some much-deserved love. Begin each morning by blessing your day. How lovely, right?
Here’s an example of what I say upon waking:
“Thank you for another day on this glorious planet. May I be happy, healthy, grateful, kind, and loving today. May I be of service to myself and others. Thank you. I love you. Have a beautiful day, sweet Kris.”
This simple morning habit truly changes everything because it helps shift our perceptions about ourselves and the world around us. Too often we focus on what we don’t have or what’s missing in our relationships, jobs, or overall well-being. We wake up ready to judge and criticize. Wouldn’t you rather immerse yourself in happiness?
Now that’s what I call a beautiful self care idea for your morning routine!
4. Set positive intentions every morning.
While there are circumstances in our lives that we can’t change, nothing can take away our freedom to choose our own thoughts. Your mind is your sovereign space, and you are the leader of that kingdom. This fundamental truth is one of the most important revelations we can have about our power.
Love, peace, war, forgiveness—it all stems from a thought. I encourage you to allow daily gratitude, prayer, and blessings to guide your morning thoughts. Though it may seem small to begin with thanks, in truth, it’s revolutionary. Setting a positive intention every morning helps you start your day focused on the good that lies ahead.
5. Drink a smoothie, juice, or glass of lemon water before coffee.
People always ask me if I drink coffee in the morning. The answer? Yes! But I always feel better when I put something healthy in my stomach before my tea or coffee.
Drinking a smoothie with good fats and protein, or a green juice loaded with vitamins and minerals, helps me avoid overdoing the caffeine and the crashes that come with it.
And don’t forget to drink a big ol’ glass of water with lemon upon rising. The benefits are insurmountable, and your liver and bowels will thank you. Try this tip, and I swear it will change your day!
6. Schedule a few minutes for a healthy breakfast.
Eating breakfast every morning as part of your daily routine is a great way to energize your day. Try out some of these healthy meals:
Starting your morning with breakfast makes a positive impact on the rest of the day.
7. Write in a gratitude journal.
Another great morning ritual is to write a bit in your journal. Why? One of the best self care ideas for learning about yourself is to write about your thoughts and feelings. Talk to yourself on the page. Ask questions and listen for the answers.
If you have nothing to say, write “I have nothing to say” over and over until you do. Or try something like “If I did have something to share, what would it be?” Just get the conversation going. You’d be surprised how impactful a five-minute journal session can have on your entire day.
8. Incorporate meditation into your morning routine.
Before you dive into your morning routine, take a few moments to take some deep breaths. Sitting in silence is a great way to embrace the healing space between thoughts. I always feel so comforted when I embrace meditation in my morning routine.
If you’re new to this practice, just sit in a comfortable position for 10 minutes and focus on your breath. When a thought comes (and it will), acknowledge it by saying something like “thinking” to yourself and then try to let it go (that may not be possible right away—don’t worry if that’s the case).
You can also use counting or a mantra to anchor your attention. Try counting from 1–10. Again, if a thought comes, pause, say “thinking” and resume where you left off. An example of a mantra I like to use is “I am love.” The most important thing is to do whatever works for you and don’t be hard on yourself.
I recently took a workshop with one of my favorite teachers, Pema Chodron. Pema is a Buddhist nun who has been meditating for more than 40 years. Even though I know she has a great sense of humor, I nearly fell off my cushion when she joked about being terrible at meditating! But she shared this with us out of kindness, so we would stop beating ourselves up for being sucky meditators. So, if Pema can have compassion for her practice, so can we.
9. Wake up your body with mindful movement.
In the summer I spend a lot of time hiking and swimming. I like to get up early, take a walk or jump in my pool and do some laps. On the days I start my morning routine with movement, I feel amazing.
Not just my physical health, my mental health too! My mood is perky, my attention and focus are strong, and I feel more vibrant.
It’s no wonder that some of the most successful people in the world say that exercising before work is the secret to their success. And you don’t have to incorporate heavy exercise into your morning routine for it to help.
Forget the gym if it’s not your thing. Take a quick walk in nature or a bike ride to get some fresh air instead. Do a sun salutation or gentle stretching in the living room. If that’s too much, dance to uplifting music as you blow dry your hair.
Just try to move your body a little more than you did yesterday. Even if you only have five minutes, do some squats. Brush your teeth and strengthen your thighs! Exercise is a great way to reduce stress, get your blood flowing, and kickstart a productive day.
Use these self care ideas to make morning rituals a part of your healthy routine.
When you spend time focusing on healthy habits that leave you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and grateful, it makes a big difference in your life. I hope this blog post helped you brainstorm ways to incorporate mindful practices into your day.
Your Turn: What morning rituals help you start your day in a healthy way? I wanna know what works for you and I know our community will, too!

It’s my non negotiable time.
Busted! I’m one of those morning coffee and tv junkies. If I know it’s not good for me why do I keep doing it? I think it (falsely) makes me fèel connected to the world, but I’d rather be connected to my radiant soul and God! Thanks for the inspiration.
Kris, you are the best! I enjoy your emails immensely. They are creative & informative & oh so doable! God bless you❤️You always make my day:)
Hi Kris, nice article! There are some nice tips in it. I especially like the first one 🙂 I recently changed my alarm to a more soothing one (wind chimes) and it really does make a difference!
My morning rituals include a combination of some sort of physical exercise, like yoga, meditation and drinking green tea. Helps to have a fresh start for the morning and it’s also great against stress.
Thanks for the cool article!

Thank you for the wonderful morning rituals. May I suggest inserting “meditation or prayer”? I know that the words you note using ARE a prayer, (I think so, at least), and naturally each individual will choose what they say and how they do this But I think since you’re giving basic yet important suggestions, praying to God (people’s choice of Who this is) can be specifically noted as another choice, well- proven to help in excellent, healthy ways, in addition to the choice of meditation. Hope that makes sense. Love you, Kris!!!
I’ve tried meditations, center points hololsync solution, master key dr alex Loyd, and JC and angels, I get goosebumps shiver sweat chills from the last two and the book healing codes, eft and beautiful love and happiness writing, u might know her she KC, another set of initials I love, now I just have to love me, thanks Kris’s, Jeremy Michael Tobias
How. much lemon w/hot or cold water should you drink in the am?
Is it better to take probiotics in the am or pm? Does it matter?
I often ask myself what I absolutely HAVE to do today, then leave the rest to being in the present and letting the days activities flow., the daily routines, ,,Susan
Beautiful.
Best thing I ever did = Get the “Yoga wake up” app and allow it to soothe me gradually into conciousness every morning. Prior to discovering this absolute gem, I had the “beep, beep, BEEP!” alarm.
I have noticed I awaken calmer, more relaxed, less anxious, and glide more effortlessly into my beautiful day.
Awesome love it thanks for sharing.
How have I not known about your site before? Wow! You may be seeing a ton of comments, I feel like I’ve hit a diamond in the rough. Your site has everything I’ve been looking for. 🙂
I have been trying to meditate a little bit each morning and I do think it helps. I am not experienced at it so I would love some guidance.
I have a pint glass of water with a spoon of Apple Cider Vinegar, followed by a run/walk for 30 minutes most days and the days that I do not get to do this, I miss it so much. I find after this routine I am energised for the day and can take on all that is before me.
Hi, Kris.
Thank you for your reminders and helpful ideas, always.
I start my morning with my alarm on my phone set to a gentle chime. Then I meditate. Then I water my plants and turn on classical music for them and talk to them. Then I go feed the squirrels and birds. Then I shower or wait until after breakfast. I try to go for a walk, later and I eat organic fruits and veggies in the dirty dozen. Hugs.
Thank you so much for these tips! It’s definitely bringing more awareness in ourselves.
I always feel better just reading your articles.
You are so on point with loving yourself and thinking positive.
I am a breast cancer survivor. My husband just had successful open heart surgery.
My mom is dying from multiple myeloma. All this in the past 3 years.
It is so helpful for me to stop and take care of myself and think positive thoughts. It keeps the crazies away.
Hi Leslie: Just wanted to send some extra love your way. xo, kc
I love love love working on my feet in the AM. I’m learning all these cool little things in my therapeutic yoga class that you can do to get your feet ready for mobility and balance the rest of the day. As a dancer, taking care of your feet is so crucial. its awesome and makes me feel ready for the day in my own way.
A gentle alarm is a total must for me. I get so cranky if there’s a loud sharp alarm. I love the idea of starting my day with a sweet pray and giving thanks for the day to come. Thanks for all these tips!
Dear, Sweet Kris,
I can’t tell you how much your book Crazy Sexy Juice and your wonderful emails have helped me. You came recommended from a friend at just the right moment in my life. I love your book, I love your juices and smoothies and I love your zest and passion for life. The way you always address people, “Hiya gorgeous” or “hello sweet friend” has really made me aware of how I talk to myself sometimes…and it’s not always very nice 🙁 Lately though I have been thinking about just how awesome and amazing I am – we are – and what a miracle it is that we are all here on this little blue planet, circling around a blazing ball of fire in an infinite universe…what about that is NOT a miracle?!
You ARE amazing, Lesley! xo, kc
I recently picked up Sungazing again. I am still recuperating from a near death accident that left me pretty broken in 2012. I know and feel that Sungazing helps me with my healing process and to start my day with mantras and gratitude. I have a goo 20’25 minutes being grateful for the Sun, Gaia, my kids, my jobs, my pup, and of course me. Anything I can think of. I also welcome the day and ask guidance to help me manifest all that I need and desire. The benefits of Sungazing, being more youthful, more energetic. less hungry, detoxifying the Pineal Gland etc etc are endless. I feel so good doing this and hope I do not get away from it again. Thank you Kris for you weekly blogs. Especially this one!
Hi Kris,
Your post came at just the right time. I have been looking at ways to start the morning right and this helps a lot. I have been struggling to implement certain things and some of my bad habits just seem to follow me, but your post has empowered me and reinforced the power of a great morning ritual.
thanks so much for sharing this!
Hi Kris
Thank you so much ,for the Beautiful Tools to start a new Day
Love it! Sometimes when I wake up and start to think of all of the things I “have to do” or how it is going to be a busy day, I now change those thoughts to “I am going to have a great day.”
An outline of how to implement your other tips can be found by Internet searching “Miracle Morning” a 6 minute process that incorporates much of your advice! (not my post…not a self promo here! Readers who want a bit of structure will find it helpful!)
Love it thanks Kris, Been in a bad habit of checking my silly phone in the mornings whilst my little toddler crawls into bed to watch his fave crap for five minutes before we rise. My whole gratitude and self love is going to shift from tomorrow. Most days I start with a workout, a run, swim in the ocean baths (lucky place I live in Oz), a boxing session, HIIT session, X fit, whatever. and YES it changes my whole day, my entire attitude. WIth little ones, it’s a little tougher to fit in and you’ve given me some new ideas to just shift the attitude on the days that don’t start with such energy. Love you – thank you lady!
Thank you so much Kris for sharing! I love your tips. Me encanta cómo eres y lo que ofreces al mundo!
I hate alarms, especially if they are violent. Now that I am not working, I let my body dictate when to wake up. Most times, after eight hours of good sleep, my body says “ENOUGH!” When I must wake up at a certain time, I do use the sweet and loving alarm.
Something I´ve done a few times, and that has been glorious, is wake up and be silent. But not just blant silent. It has been a silent-connected-with-the-deep-ocean-that-life-is, with all its silent magnificense and harmony. And when a negative thought has passed through my mind, I have gently dismissed it, so that I could continue to enjoy the silence. I´m gonna try and make of this a habit and I´m gonna start with the silence ritual before doing anything else.
Thank you, Ms. Carr.
Does your Green Lemonade work comparably to the lemon water?
We (my teen son, my husband when he works from home, and faithfully me) start each day with a variation of the green lemonade. My parents do now too, and that simple step has helped all of us.
I really appreciate your work, your sharing, your candor, and your integrity.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Pamela
Hi Kriss!
Thanks for sharing this with us !
I totally support you when you say exercising in the morning gives a lot of stamina
I run since almost 18 months now every two days for 45 min, then thank and bless myself for keeping up with this (I used to hate jogging!) and indulge with a super healthy breakfast starting with hot lemon water glass, goji berries, mulberries, almonds, hazelnuts, buckwheat flakes and unsweetened almond milk?
This is really my favorite way to start the day, after this I feel so good and gentle on myself, anything can happen during my day, I know the first 2 hours will have been great and dedicated to my well being!
And I have much mire energy the days I run, even if I wake up at 5:00 am !
Thanks for your great advices all year long, I love it
Cheers
Severine (from France)
Hi Kris! Have you ever used the Fitbit alarm? It gives a small vibration on your wrist and slowly wakes you up. It’s silent and gentle, I love using it!
Dear Kris,
I start my day with your morning meditation which makes me feel so happy and ready to start a new day. In fact, I know it by heart now. After the meditation, I have lemon juice in warm water and then a smoothie with breakfast.
I just love all the tracks from your Self-Care for Busy People Meditation. They have made a positive difference to my life. Must also mention that I absolutely love your voice. Hope you will be inspired to release some new meditations….
Hugs Diana
Thank you so much, Diana—you made my day. I couldn’t be happier that my meditations have resonated with you! Your morning practice sounds divine. xo, kc
In “The Artist’s Way” Julie Cameron talks a lot about journaling first thing in the morning.
Why do I always forget? I know these things. I have the best intentions to practice these things. I know how beautiful and important these things are. How can I be so easily swept away by the cares and distractions of my world? ?
Peace & Roosters! I love your gentle approach to things. I always feel I can take these steps to healthy living without feeling overwhelmed. Thank you and have a wonderful day!
I do your morning meditation and pep talk meditation on my train ride into Brooklyn on my way to work every morning. Love your meditations! I am always in a much better mood once I get off the train having listened to your meditations and in a much better frame of mind to start my workday. On the weekends I listen to both meditations before getting out of bed.
Water FIRST. Movement with SWEAT. Seeing kiddies off to school. FOOD! Quiet time with my husband, Steve. Prayer. Meditation. Gratitude. Reading. In that order, on a good day:)
I used to start my day with a simple thank you like the first line of your blessing, but I LOVE your expanded version. Just reading it makes me feel calm and almost teary. Thank you, thank you for sharing. Can hardly wait ’til tomorrow to start using it, although I may not wait. Thinking about printing it to a slip of paper to keep on my nightstand as a note to my physical self; maybe even a bookmark to serve as a reminder throughout the day. Hmm.
Couldn’t agree more about the alarm. I have mine set to a chimes type of sound. It doesn’t scare me when it goes off or more importantly, my fur babies! 🙂
I have some fundamentals every day… and add more on days when I can. I rise, notice I have been given another day and say thank you many times. I light a candle to honour the day. As i put on the kettle I drink a warm glass of water with lemon (I am a yogi 🙂 and then I go and use the neti pot to clear my head. I sit for 10 minutes…often write, then exercise if I have time. I will make more time for movement as the summer comes.
Then, I am ready to face kids, work and our hectic schedule. Without this grounding in myself, I’m not sure where I would be!
For me, hot water with lemon, green smoothie, meditation and yoga/brisk walk are all part of my morning routine! No excuse! And when I skip one step or even a few of them (never skip them all…), I feel less centered and energized! 🙂
I am a morning-workout person because I just don’t feel as awake if I don’t move right away. That is my best ritual, but I can see how it can be strenuous since I wake up at my first alarm (no snooze) and head right to class. I’m looking into changing my ritual very soon to bring more relaxation into the morning. love these tips!
Thank you Kris for a lovely post. I’ve been reading your blog and watching your videos for a few months now. I find you very uplifting and inspiring. When people comment on how strange my dietary habits are, I can sometimes be discouraged, but then I remember that people don’t know what I know from inspirational people like you, Kris. I continue on my path of clean, mostly plant-based diet because ultimately I feel good and my body has been the healthiest ever since changing my diet 🙂
My morning routine is valuable to me and I notice the difference when I miss the routine.
I use a gentle alarm to wake myself up at 6:00am. While still lying in bed, I visualise my day going smoothly, then say a few affirmations. I then sit up and drink a big glass of water, and meditate for 10 minutes. Then I do some sun salutations to wake my body up. Then I go downstairs to write and read for 10 minutes each. I usually tend to make breakfast and lunches for the children after that. When they have left for school, I meditate using a guided meditation (usually Deepak Chopra’s) which is 10-20 minutes and then move my body using the 7-minute exercise app. That is my hour-long morning routine and feel fantastic most days!
Sounds heavenly! Thanks for sharing, Ikuko. 🙂 kc
Yas! Such a great routine!
Stay groovy 🙂
Love this Kris! It’s all so true, and our morning routines are similar. I refuse to look at email, FB, etc first thing. I drink lemon water then coffee, do some quick exercises, and start my quiet time which includes prayer, breathing, affirmations, visualization, reading and journaling. Just a few minutes of each but it keeps my head straight. Then off for a walk with my pup KO. I am a huge believer in getting your morning off to a positive start. It is truly life changing. I recently did a blog post on my morning routine too! If anyone wants to check it out, it was called “Happy, healthy and hot morning” over at http://elizres.com Love everything you do Kris! Thanks for all the positive inspiration!
I guess my problem is is that I like my bad habits too much. I love coffee, sugar, fatty foods. But I also love the way I feel after having a green drink. I’m supposing it’s all a matter of repetition until it become natural.
also have slices or oranges and apples pre-cut in the morning, so that you will
have good sugar in your bloodstream upon waking up!
Sprouts first thing in the morning are great too!
Hi Kris,
I start the day with a green juice loaded with goodness and feel amazing afterwards. I am attempting to rise earlier in order to do some sort of exercise, but am normally tired and can’t drag myself out of bed. My goal for the next month is to wake up and do something at least 3 times a week to start.
Wish me luck!
Mel ❤️ xxx
Good luck! Let us know how it goes. xo, kc
I begin my awakening with a thank you for being alive! I then flow into an attitude of gratitude for all the wonderful things in my life……and there are lots of wonderful things. I continue with a 5 minute energy routine including jump starting my energy flow and tracing meridians and then enjoy a lovely healthy juice drink…..mmmm! I focus on being grateful for different things throughout my day even challenges because they help my growth. As much as I can I purposely focus on loving life.
I do tenpin bowling it’s awsome I walk I swim
My gorgeous boyfriend wakes me every morning with a cup of orange and lemon tea, a wide smile and a hearty ‘Beunos Dias mi amor’ (he’s learning Spanish!). We then do an hour of Kundalini Yoga which beautifully awakens the mind and body and then we’re ready for anything 🙂
Also, my fiance and I just bought a gentle wake up alarm by Phillips. It simulates natural light to wake us up and has bird chirping and gentle chime options. Other than that and cuddling with fiance for a long time, mornings are pretty slugglish in our household. I am excited to explore the possibilities for experiencing my mornings in a new way. I’ll start adding a dose of curiosity to my routine :).
You are gifted at describing the bridge between meditation and life. I often struggle with getting to the cushion because my life is so out of control and busy. However, I am creating so much of the speed in my life. Thank you for sharing your personal experience of slowing things down and taking care of yourself. I have done lots of wonderful Shambhala courses that have helped me understand myself better, but it is also helpful to see someone like you who gives very practical examples of how awareness manifests in daily life. Thank you for being brave and leading the way. I’ll look to your website, books and other offerings to encourage me as I try to be braver in my own life. :).
Hey Kris,
Your morning rituals are so nice. Starting the day in the healthy way can take some practice. I found that find each morning 3 new informational resources, read and say hello can make life better. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi Kris , I’ve been following you for a few years now and have all of your books ! I admire you and you inspire me ! I was diagnosed with hashimotos disease a few years back but the symptoms didn’t hit until peri menopause came along . So it’s been a double whammie and I’m feeling really crappy . Do you have any thoughts on the autoimmune disease ? Thx so much in advance ! Sincerely Joanna Silvestri
I wake in the morning to a gentle alarm, turn on the light on my nightstand to help my body wake. Then, I’ve been using Louise Hay’s meditation app every morning (and evening) while in bed for about 10 minutes and continue to listen while I’m leisurely taking a shower. Funny how a morning shower that used to feel like a sprint, now is a relaxing spa-like experience without adding any extra time! I then do my own affirmations / gratitudes and start my day.
In the few weeks since I started this, my attitude is completely different! I’m calmer, yet more energized and very present in the moment. It’s rubbing off on my hubby and the kids…I’ve even got our 10 year old using positive affirmation thoughout the day!
As always I look forward to your email. I am going through a battle of denial over rectal cancer. They want to do more chemo and some surgery (for a bag yikes) . I just can’t make myself do it. I can drink green smoothies. I can learn to be more positive. I can do good works as long as I last. You give me courage to go on but I just can’t surrender my body to more torture. Be well sweet spirit.
You’re so right, Kris. In our go-go, always-on world, it’s almost too easy to plunge into the day and focus on handling things. For the last 8 months or so my husband and I start the day with what I call a sunrise drink (juice from a lemon, about an inch of ginger, 32oz of water blended in the Vitamix). I really feel the difference on the days when I don’t have it. Now after reading this article, I’m going to add in my Dailey Method workout earlier in the day. Because of the focus on an aligned and strong body, mind and spirit, I’m thinking the workout will have a really positive impact on me. Thanks for the inspiration!
I would love to get a gentle alarm clock, does anyone have any recommendations?
Do you have an iPhone? I use a gentle alarm on my iPhone and love it! There are a couple of gentle options you can try.
I hike every morning with my dogs!
Thank you!
Interesting, I can add some one to my morning ritual. I practice every morning some exercises with my wooden LiveLongerPillow, and it changes my day in a positive way.
Hello Kris, I really like all that you have shared as suggestions to try in the morning. Some days my body speaks clearly as i am awaking, such as saying ‘please a walk first thing.’ So I drink some water, perhaps grab a kiwi, and head outdoors- before I open my laptop, turn on the news etc. I immediately feel my body and mind lightening as the joy heightens., and I love myself for listening to my intuition and acting on it.
II’m not a big coffee drinker- most of my life, I drank only tea for my caffeine- and now I feel slightly hooked on cafe au lait; BUT I am decreasing the amount of cream- AND lately I’ve been throwing the heated ingredients in the blender with a banana. I don’t know how healthy that is, but it feels less harsh in my system- and it tastes delicious. Peace, Davi
Thank you for sharing Kris. I do a couple of these sometimes and would love to do all eventually. My problem is consistency. I start for a few days to maybe a couple weeks then return to my regular lifestyle. I know if I stick with it, it’s habit forming. Do you have any suggestions? I even have them scheduled in my cell phones alarm but I cant seem to get there
Thank you so much for posting this Kris – now that I’m back to work after being off for summer vay-kay, it was important to me to have a good grounding and centering routine before the start of a busy day. The tip that resonated with me the most is ‘Writing’! I’ve been feeling the urge to write and sometimes meditating first thing in the morning isn’t the best choice (I prefer to do this as my afternoon routine). I also find that listening to an inspiring song or ‘guided meditation’ puts me in the right frame of mind for the day! 🙂 Looking forward to your new album!!!
Thank you Kris, I am retired but these tips are good sense for all of us. Some I do most days which always make me feel more alive.
Warmly,
Agnes
I loved Pema’s declaration she is a terrible meditator although doing it for 40 years. I really resonated with that idea because I do walking meditations, creating collage meditations, just simple task meditations rather than the traditional ‘sitting’ meditations. Thank you Kris for your continued inspirations.
Thank you for your ever present fresh way of speaking and presenting ideas. Love the fun sexy talk. I am an enjoyer of afternoon or evening meditation and exercise, find the morning I need to just get going or I stall. Plus I love the stillness of mornings, feeling them. Hopefully that’s cool, that the morning exercise thing isn’t for me. Love love love my green juice and can’t wait to purchase your new book! Thanks again for all you do and love the card readings too!
Upon awaking, I scrape my tongue & pee, then spin 33 times, clockwise which opens up my chakras.
I read this book, ” Bringers of The Dawn” by Barbara Marciniak which highly recommends spinning to increase ones consciousness.
Warm wishes, Justine. x
I love a good smoothie first thing! It can sometimes feel like hard work to cut up veggies etc but once it’s done its so worth it 🙂

I start my morning with humor! I don’t flip on the news…..I watch ‘I Love Lucy’ every morning. Makes me laugh and sets my mood for the day :). We make a choice every day- I choose to be happy. Thank you for sharing your morning ritual.
I love the ways you chose to start the day out on a calm, positive note. I get uo very early, which is so against my body clock, and could only spend a few minutes meditating. Also, I just can’t stomach a green drink at 5:30 am. I’ve tried…Instead. I can drink Macha green tea, which is supposed to be a great antioxidant although I’ve been toldit has a lot of caffeine. Any other suggestions?. I look foward to your emails, which are so inspiring and really help me redirect my often grumpy, over-analytical (critical) self.
Thank you very much Kris, i have forgotten about myself lately and this email kind of send me a gentle reminder that i need to get back to myself. Lots of love

I love this post – I struggle so much with this. I have tried to incorporate much of this but have 2 small boys; one of which just started school. I go to bed earlier but still wake up to an alarm (& am afraid if I choose a more gentle one I will not wake up 🙂 ), and I got straight to them when they wake up. I’ve tried settling my alarm earlier before they wake but I’m so tired that I think the sleep is another important factor. I tried juicing but since school started the prep for making the juice and clean up is just too much right now. Any advice would be great!
Kris,
I love your…well, everything you do! I just received my Crazy Sexy Note Cards and am so excited! One of my 5 morning rituals now includes picking one at random, letting it sink in and then–ahhh–relaxing! Lori’s artwork is stunning, the perfect collaboration.
Juicing?? Maybe 😉 Looking forward to your new book!
Thank you, and Jessi who is always quick to respond and delightful!
love you guys,

I too believe starting our day in a high vibration creates a wonderful day. Even if things don’t go the way we expect we have a life positive attitude about them.
One thing I do each morning is Tap. I take 5-10 minutes to tap on whatever is up for me that day. Tapping clears away any resistance I may have to having a fabulous day. I love it. Thanks for sharing your morning rituals, so powerful.
Morning tapping is a great idea!
Just want to tell you that I love the picture of you above. You look very young and girlish and beautiful.
Great ideas
Hello Kris
Thanks for sharing all your wonderful days, and constant inspiration
and simple ways to live a great life, have a super day
all the way from NZ
Regards Theo
Thank You Kris
Your morning ritual looks very much like mine. Mornings are the time of the day when I load up on love, peace and sanity that gets me through the day perfectly-:)
I love your “brush your teeth and strengthen your thighs” tip!
Thank you so much Kris for all of the beautiful information you share with us. You are a true blessing to the world.
I don’t seem to be able to stick to one routine. But usually I like to wake up slowly, by giving myself time to just lay in bed and think – sometimes I try to meditate, often I thank God for another day on this beautiful planet). If I am tired or get to bed late, I allow myself to sleep in. If not, I hike with a friend, or get up and garden for a bit before work. I try to remember to drink lemon water, but it hasn’t become a habit. I usually have a morning health shake – my homemade nut milk or coconut water and frozen banana, sometimes other fruit, fresh greens, cacao, spirulina, hemp/chia/flax seed blend. Lately, after reading a book called one spirit medicine, I’m trying to not eat after 6pm and no fruit until 12 noon, however, that doesn’t happen every day. I’m also trying to do some juicing in place of the health shake some days. Only some days I do homemade meusli/granola with fruit and nut milk. It’s a journey and I’m going with the flow. Love all your articles/advice. They are teachers and reminders. <3
I needed this post to remind me to get back into a morning self care routine. Lately, I have been doing so much for my son to get ready for school, I have been neglecting myself and am feeling a negative vibe creeping in. Starting tomorrow I am using your morning blessing to jump start my new positive routine. Have a peaceful and happy day Kris!
Fantastic, Nancy. So happy it resonated with you.
I do oil pulling (if i have enough time) and after i brush my teeth and tong. Its important to brush teeth befofe eat of drink.
I take a glass of warm water with coconut oil.
Put a little bit of coco oil in my hair and wash myself and hair with soft soap. After shower i put coco oil evrywhere exept in the face i put rosehip oil with a lavender essential oil.
Have a wonderful day! <3 love and light from Quebec Canada!
Hi Kris 🙂 Firstly I loved this post as I do all of your posts! Truly inspirational Thankyou 🙂
I start my day as you do with a beautiful alarm melody, thank my angel and guides for their protection, healing and guidance. Thank the universe for this glorious world and ask for love and light to be sent to me.
I drink 500ml – 1litre of water before my coffee! Yes I know but must have a coffee.
I then do 40 minutes of combined skipping, Tabata/Hitt workout and stretching.
As I am a raw vegan I always have a smoothie of some sort after my workout for my breakfast, I sip this while I get ready for work.
This is my daily routine and I feel absolutely fantastic, full of energy and full of love the whole day!
I wish I started this 20 years ago, could only imagine how much calmer and healthier I would have been and how much better I would have dealt with life’s hurdles that were thrown at me.
Enough said! Thankyou again for being the beautiful person you are 🙂
Lefki xx
Most days when I wake up I play a song for my son who sleeps nearby….lately it’s Barry Manilow’s “Looks Like We Made It!” My son and I have a good giggle from it and spend the time connecting and cuddling. It’s such a fantastic way to start my day in a positive way. We also try to include our two dogs into that cuddle time and give/receive lots of doggie kisses and nibbles.
I love all your tips Kris and plan to unearth my old juicer here soon and give it a whirl! I’m always inspired by your wisdom. Thank you!
Hi Kris,
I totally agree with your juice before coffee regime!
And I love the writing one too – in fact I spomtaneously wrote in my journal this meaning (usually i write in the evenings) and I feel amazing – so funny to see your blog after doing just that!
Thanks as always for inspiring positive changes XX
I find this to be more helpful. I am one of these people who have not use the right tools to make days better. Thanks to you, I will keep improving my body to make my day great. Thank you for your help, Kris! ^_^
Kris this is beautiful and timely for me. My cat recently passed away and I suddenly realised that my morning rituals were largely shaped around him. And that was peaceful and postive and loving. I have to create a new set of morning rituals. I’m still evolving those. One I adopted over the last few weeks is to draw a card from your love notes and make that my affirmation for the day. I usually spend a few minutes thinking ‘what is the message for me on this card today?’ I also have a light but super healthy breakfast. I like the idea of getting fresh air and gentle exercise first thing. I’m motivated to develop some new rituals! Thank you
Blessings to you & your sweet cat.
Kris, I love this, and I am committing to starting a morning routine like this asap! When I was first diagnosed with breast cancer, I found your books, and you have been my inspiration since then! My life has been so hectic lately, I have stopped doing the things that help me the most. Saying I am too down to meditate or to journal…but this is when I need these things even more! As always you inspire me to stop feeling sorry for myself and to start living in the moment again! Thank you so much…I really needed this! xoxoxo
You just gave me a little boost, too, Ginny. xo!
Thank you.
A very practical & beautiful way of reconnecting with ourselves & our health.
I will definately try & put some of this in practise. Xx
I once read one of those lists that are everywhere these days- 5 things spiritual people do before they get out of bed. It did resonate with me and I have these things as the label for my alarm. Gratitude, Intention for the day, 5 deep breaths, smile, Forgive yourself for yesterday. Those and a cuddle with each of my dogs is a recipe for a wonderful start to the day. Thanks for everything you do Kris.
I like to start my day with an intention– anything from not getting caught up in too much stress at work to connecting with a loved one to just having plain good old fashioned fun. I think about this on my way to work and it sets a nice tone for the day. I often then like to end my days with gratitude for all that I have, including the wisdom, guidance, and humor from you, Kris. Wishing you a week filled with as many blessings as you give! (So that would be a lot). xoxo.
You are so adorable, Kris, and thanks so much for always spreading so much J♥Y! I have always, the minute I get up, I thrown on my shorts and top from the day before and gone out and walked the neighborhood for 1-4 miles depending on weather, then come back and taken a quick rinse off shower, and eaten breakfast. I will now drink that healthy smoothie Before Coffee and breakfast! It’s so refreshing and wonderful to be outside walking brisky so early, listening to all the birds, greeting all the early morning neighbors and dogs and kitties, when the air is clearer and fresher, and it puts energy in your muscles and heart!♥
Love Y♥U!
Aaaah Kris…..you are amazing as always!! You share such great information that is sure to help everyone be just that little bit happier each day. Thank you so much.
Thank You, Kriss! The first thing I do is say thank you for one more day with my beautiful senior dog (who sleeps right next to me). That along gets me in a good mood to start my day
I am trying so hard to adjust my routines so I can be more peaceful and less stressed out. But somehow, over the summer, I lost focus. I think these tips will help me get back on the wagon. Thank you for that!
I start every morning with a positive thought, a little prayer and a pint size glass of warm lemon water. It’s my morning ritual and I swear by it. Morning meditation is something I try to do everyday but must admit I could do better. I’ve started running in the morning and love the way it focuses my mind. Love you Kris! I’ve been following you for years. I love your energy. Thank you thank you thank you❤️ Namaste
Loved your “top 5”. I’m working with free weights. 5lbs for now for upper body. Walk 20 minutes and then… REBOUNDING!!! Am up to 15 minutes of walking and jumping with 1 minute cool down. Would like to get to 30 minutes. Amazing exercise for bone density, lymphatic drainage, oxygenating and just plain feeling good!
Yay Kris! I wholeheartedly agree.
This beautiful free app IS the reason I’ve been able to sustain a meditation practice over the last year!

Here’s to bringing the SACRED into all of our days.
Much love!

Yes, dear Kriss , so Important this maintaining of a positive Momentum before stepping even out of bed . I usually do breathing and silent sitting Meditation plus Affirmations before I write my Morning Pages ( rec. by Julia Cameron and the book ” the Artist’s way ” ) . So basically I have to get rid of a lot of swirling thoughts in order for them to make space for Inspiration. BUt , when I am angry or not feeling good and that happens a lot in last time , I am just so identified with shitty thoughts that only thinking of positive affirming is freeking me out, so I prefer whatever makes you release Resistance and therefore makes you feel better . So you can make a meditation out of punching your pillows for some minutes or do kathartic shouting and screaming , after that you may get to know what deep peace really is .with Love . Sandra
My days begin with my unique house hen screeching alarm. She can get pretty dramatic if I sleep in too much. You’d think she was being ripped apart. I have flown down the steps, heart a racin’, terrified she was being slaughtered, only to find her sitting in her condo wanting to get outside and start her day. That’s not a fun way to wake up so I don’t sleep in very often. Usually I get up, stretch, look at my gorgeous meditation chair as I pass by it to run downstairs and take care of everyone, (2 birds and 2 rabbits). First I change everyone’s water and feed the 2 house rabbits their pellets. I also clean Smokie’s nose, (my one-eyed house rabbit who has an endless nasal discharge). Then I wheel out my one-winged robin in his condo so he can hang out all day on the deck. Then I let my chicken out and feed both of the birds worms. Then I water all the plants on the deck and feed the birds and squirrels who live outside in nature. Then I come back in the house and vacuum up all the bunny poops and get them more hay and some fresh greens and change the litters if they need it. Then I clean out the condos and do some laundry. THEN, I get myself a nice glass of negative ion water and check my emails. Then, IF I’m lucky, and everyone is happy, I get to take a shower. But usually my neighbor’s cat comes over and I need to spend time with her too so she doesn’t feel left out. I do feed her kibble in the hopes she’ll leave my bird and squirrel friends alone. This is a work in progress. Oh yeah, by the way, I look like death warmed over but I am SOOOOOO loved. My fingers are in constant pain from overuse, (a house hen is a LOT of work!), but my heart is full. Oh! I almost forgot the best part! The very first thing I do is get a Sparkie bath. The minute I come downstairs every morning, Sparkie, my oldest house rabbit, is there waiting in his little guard spot, (he guards the family at night), and I get down on all fours and give him lots of strokes and kisses and thank him for keeping us all safe. Then, because he simply cannot wait to reciprocate, he licks my entire nose and cuddles into my face and neck. This is by far the best part of my day. It also sucks because I can’t put on all my nighttime beauty products because Sparkie doesn’t like it. 😀 😀 And if Sparkie doesn’t like it… it doesn’t happen. Yeah I may look like death warmed over but I’ve got a whole lotta LIFE goin’ on over here and I KNOW I am loved. That makes all the cleaning and sore fingers and aging face worth it. 😀 😀 Maybe caring for others with a joyful heart is also a sort of meditation. 🙂
I want to come to your house ❤???
ANY time. How’s your fingers? 😉 xx
I like to read novels, or inspirational books in the morning. Then in the shower, I massage myself with cocnonut oil waking up all my skin, muscles and joints. I ask/visualize all the negative stuff to wash off and go down the drain, to start the day fresh clean and ready for what the new day holds.
Get up
1. Drink water
2. Read devotion
3. Workout/ treadmill or workout DVD/more water
4. Coffee/shower
5. Smoothie
These are all great suggestions, Kris, and yes that IS why I get up well before the sun for exercise–and so I can make it back home to give my kids a hug before they head of to (gulp!) high school. Since reducing my caffeine, I don’t even have the mid-morning crashes I used to have. As for smoothies, I used to be doubtful but now much prefer them!
Mindset is what makes the difference, and mindset changes happen most quickly when the need is important or even urgent. When your health, or life, is actually on the line changes can happen fast. For those of us in good health it can take a bit more grit to make lasting improvements.
Thanks for this great blog Kris!
Love this post! And love that you drink coffee from time to time after your greens.
Your ritual, is very similar to mine. But I just wanted to share that I started to get really frustrated when kids got in the way of my morning…. Which started to make me feel selfish that I wanted a morning routine. I would wake up super early and somehow the kids would have radar that mama’s up! It was really throwing off my energy so I started playing around with the order and asking for help…. I write before bed now and meditate at noon. I can say an affirmation of gratitude and get my juice, but I usually can’t escape to exercise before making the kids food and packing lunch. So… I started making affirmations around that. It is so powerful to pack healthy lunches and make yummy smoothies for kids. When I found the power in that, packing lunch, took on a whole new meaning! Thanks for a great post!
Thanks, again, Kris! Your energy is amazing! Mornings are not my strong point. Getting a good start is super important for me! I start my day with hot lemon water that has cayenne, fresh grated ginger, tumeric and cinnamon. Its an amazing bath for my insides. Followed by a couple oz of fresh wheat grass. Thanks to your inspiration and books, we drink fresh juice every day. My fresh green juice, I call it the Kitchen Sink, is next. Usually has kale, celery, radish, lime, cucumber, carrot, green apple and ginger. Love it! I try to meditate or get outdoors to workout for 30 minutes. On my way to work I put a meditating CD on, and drink my Arbonne detox tea, (great tea with peppermint and milk thistle)., and Tulsi tea together. As a nurse, I care for, teach, clean up, wait on patients all day. This routine helps me get prepared to handle most anything. Not to mention my husband has had cancer three times and it just recently switched from high grade to low grade on the last go around. Mainly, (we are convinced), due to your alkaline diet advice, and the changes we made in our lives. Thank you sooo much for all your research and work, that has changed our lives! When a friend is diagnosed with cancer, I immediately send them “Crazy Sexy Diet”, and hope they find the wealth we did!
Thanks and love to you!
Mornings are not your strong point, Brenda? You sound like a morning CHAMP to me! Sending so much love to you and your husband. xo, kc
I pick up, fluff my sofa pillows, rinse any dishes, and try to create a fresh, welcoming space to see when I first wake up. It helps set the tone for my whole day.
I totally agree! When I shifted from checking emails and busting through a couple of cups of coffee to meditating, writing, juicing and then walking the dogs, all before 6 my life changed!!!
Yes, I wake up 2 hours earlier and guess what…I have more energy than ever before. I’m including this blog link in my Soulfood Sunday Sips because it is so super valuable. Love your stuff and you! Xoxo, j
Morning positive affirmations are great ! All the things you listed are perfect ! The writing is great too . Sometimes if I want to release negative emotions , I write them down and throw it off into the garbage . Or if I need to tell someone something that I never got to say and I can’t get in touch with them , maybe because they are no longer with us in physical sense, I tell th on paper , like a letter to them . I did this when I got to work today. I had a dream about my cousin who passed a few years ago . I wrote him a little letter and it really felt uplifting and good to get it out there . All positive things bring lots of positive results and stillness is perfect to give the mind a break
Loved this 5-Step morning program
I like be to start my day outside in my garden. I stroll and see what’s new, fill the birdbath and fountain, and enjoy my nutriblast or coffee on the swing as I watch the sky turn and listen to birdsong. I love your emails Kris. Keep up the great work.
Thank you dear Kris, your advice always rocks!
I appreciate your generosity. When I read your posts I always feel lighter and more positive.
keep on shining!! Lots of love from Barcelona, spain
I start my day with a workout – generally an early morning run outdoors as I love to experience the wonders of weather and nature and it’s such a treat to see the sun rise. It puts me in a great mood and during this time I like to zone out and thank the universe for all of the wonderful blessings I continue to receive. After my shower I make a wonderful nourishing juice, and connect with myself again on my way to work. I put on fun music and do some “mind dancing” with my soul, envisioning us dancing together. One of my favourite songs is “All I Want is You” by The Cars. Gives me tingles every time.
“Mind dancing” with your soul—what a lovely concept.
Lately, I’ve been doing this type of dancing to “Rather Be” by Clean Bandit. Totally tingly 🙂
I love your morning prayer. I pasted it into my google calendar at the top of the page each day. I have 2 morning prayers that I say daily, and this will be the 3rd one that I say as I sit down to work every day. Thank you so much! Blessings 🙂
I am love, that is powerful, thank you for sharing such an insightful information, I have been drinking water with lemon but I will alternate my tea/coffee with juicing and schedule more time with self especially through journaling.
Great post-would also love to see one on evening rituals. Thanks!!
Thank you so much for this Kris! For me it’s baby steps right now. I found a Breville juicer at Goodwill a few months back (for $12!) and have finally started using it. Total game changer. I have young kids, 3 and 5, and I get up at 5am to have some time to myself before they get up (my 3 gets up about 5:30). Right now I’m just working on practicing grace with myself. But I’m definitely going to add in your morning affirmation. Baby steps 🙂 Just pre-ordered your book, can’t wait to branch out with my juicer!
I’m a work in progress so one the good days.. I wake up, take a moment to process my dreams, reflect upon them and remind myself that I choose to be good, do good and for gods sake embrace a higher tolerance level for the unmindful ignorant who live in bliss it seems. Then I try my best not to let the loud intrusive “city living” noises and smells (my neighbors seem to smoke 24/7 ugh ugh) get to me, as I am highly sensitive.
For starters I’ll go with a Aloe Vera juice sip or two, maybe three, then a wheatgrass shot and on to making some prepped smoothies for the day. At times that’s a Vega One one nutritional shake as a base, with additional goodies that I add. Other times I’ll do a Green Goddess to feel one with nature. Inspired by Kriss:)
I find myself coping with frustrations, when it comes to a healthy lifestyle.
We “can” control our morning rituals, implement more positive mantra’s, organic food&drink, exercise and all that harmonious jazz but are still bombarded with outer pollutants, EMF&EMR (electromagnetic frequencies and radiation from our electrical gadgets & WiFi: in my research I’ve found it distorts our own signal, causing the immune system to weaken, cancer developments, depression and chronic diseases), Chemtrails that go into the Earth that we get our organic foods from, (scientists have found microscopic Metal particles in honey and other products), smokers and GMO. It makes aiming for a purity a little like superman without sunshine. How does one create the armor to cope with these modern day enemies?
Thank you for being the female Warrior that reminds, inspires and awakens.
What is oil pulling?
Hi Kris – what alarm do you use? I totally have one that is blaring but the alternative is the alarm on my phone- but I don’t like keeping my phone near me at night -if I do I look at it during those restless moments. Thanks!
Hi Kirsten,
Just wanted to jump in and suggest the alarm I have. It’s called a “wake up light” from Phillips (there are also other brands). It wakes you up by slowly increasing light, like the sunrise. It also has a sound alarm and you can pick between a few gentle sounds like chimes, birds or piano music. I absolutely love it and it makes mornings so much more peaceful. Hope this helps!
X Mieke
Hey Kris! Isyart my day with about an hour (more some days) of prayer, meditation, visualization and affirmations. I’ve been doing this for several years now (after my diagnosis of an autoimmune disease) and it really makes a difference in my approach to life and each day. Then once I get out of bed, I oil pull, dry brush and shower. Then I have my green smoothie. As you know, even with all these good practices, not every day is perfect…but it DOES make it that much better, especially when symptoms are flaring. Peace and blessings, Casey
Can I ask you a question about oil pulling? I don’t understand how it’s possible to swish the same oil in your mouth for 15 minutes. I feel like that would seem like an eternity. Do you do other things while you’re doing it?
Michelle, I found the best thing to do is begin oil pulling immediately upon waking up while doing morning tasks (bathroom, make bed, set out supplements, etc). By the time I’m finished, I’m also done with oil pulling. I do it for 20 min & the time goes quickly. It’s hard to do it at any other time of the day & first thing on an empty stomach is suppose to be ideal for detoxing. Hope that helps!
Hi Michelle, yes I do take are of other things while oil pulling, like getting dressed or prepping my breakfast, feeding the dogs, and even doing my morning stretching! 🙂
As a psychologist I deal with heavy talks every day…. First thing I do every morning is cuddle for at least 15 minutes my big black flat coated retriever. He is a very enthusiastic kisser and loves to throw himself on his back so I can stroke his belly like forever! This gives me a wonderful loving feeling and helps me to stay in this loving feeling throughout the whole day.. When I come home the ritual repeats…
I love this! Amazing what those little fur-healers can do, eh? 🙂
I so agree! The best part of waking up for me is to my little rescue Italian Greyhound mix and my rescue Siamese. Two sweet friends that love to snuggle in the morning. I was out of town recently and I SO missed this morning cuddle ritual, it just starts my day with love. Then onto green and fruit smoothie and jasmine tea. I am so thankful for each day.
Ditto! I snuggle with my loving rescue pooch and the inherited-rescue mini-panther cat, grateful to have them in my life!
Thank you for the tips Kris, really like the one about alarm tones and writing in the morning (seems like a great way to set an intention for the day). My juice and smoothie practice has been inconsistent of late, need to get back to it again. In addition to walking my wonderful dog, I also am trying to practice yoga or stretching in the morning and agree it fills me with positive energy.
Tootles! 🙂
Beautiful post Kris. I start my mornings by meditating while still in bed for 15 minutes. I follow that up with a prayer – giving thanks for another day, asking that my day go well and to bless my family with happiness, health and safety. It definitely sets my day up for success, all before I even step out of bed! 🙂
I start my day in the best way….as soon as I wake, I reach my hand out almost in a panic to check my dog is still there, then I pet her, kiss her and thank God so much (every morning) by saying out loud to her (my dog)….’I am SOOOO lucky to have you, thank you thank you thank you God, I love everything about you and everything that you do, thank you thank you thank you’. I then sometimes count flown the maximum years she can live for in the morning, and then I try not to think about it. I also pray to God to protect her with Angels & Fairies and to exhalt her in the highest. Extreme perhaps I know, but I cannot tell you how much my life has changed & I have changed since I got my little pooch, 9 years on and I thank God everyday for this blessing and never get mad at her, even if she accidentally poops on the carpet! My dog is a little angel sent from heaven, and is my morning ritual to cuddle her, make sure she is comfortable, AND to keep my own vibes high through out the day as our pets get distressed (well, my dog does) if we are not fully respecting & loving ourselves. Thank you Kris X
I love your spirit Kris Carr! I have tried a few of these morning rituals but am not very good at consistent routine. This motivates me to set my alarm 30 minutes earlier and start a morning ritual! I preordered your book and a treadmill here’s to a more vibrant Pam!
I love writing in the morning! My favorite trick is one I learned from my 9th grade English teacher. If you are stuck, simply write, “I can write,” over and over again until you have something to say.
Kris,
This pic of you is the best I’ve seen!!
You are glowing- beautiful!
Meg
I totally agree. Kris is one hot sexy woman! I hope I look as great when I get to her age!
Loved this post, Kris, and am so looking forward to the meditation album. Love all your words of wisdom, help and advice – the things that you actually practice rather than stuff that other people are doing and selling (sorry!)
Keep the words of inspiration coming – that, among many other things, is why we love you! XX
I completely agree with you. So many people on the internet are telling you what NOT to do and pushing
their product so hard. Kris, you are a peaceful and inspirational presence. Waaay more worth reading.
Many blessings to you Kris for this wonderful advice and suggestions to help make our days and lives better. I do much if what you offer here, and can incorporate even more of your great ideas now. Turns out you are often on my gratitude list every day! Thank you so much!
Janel, that is so sweet! Thank you honey. Gratitude right back at ya. 🙂 x
Bless you Kris! Thanks for sharing. Here’s my morning routine and if I ever don’t do it – wow – what a difference in my day!!
My feet hit the floor and I say thanks for another day. Stretches to wake up and loosen up and go rinse that mouth! A glass of chocolate almond milk followed by coffee outside or looking out the window if weather is bad. Brief meditation on what I feel led to (using several Chopra series). A few more stretches and exercises and I’m ready for breakfast and the rest of my day.
I give myself permission to take as long (get up early) or as little time (sleep a little longer) as I want according to my schedule.
Keep doing what you are doing. May you always be blessed!
These are lovely suggestions! I start the day with a green smoothie, afterwards green tea, and then head out for an hour or two hike in the Appalachians. I’m very grateful for life and nature. I yearn to write and meditate, yet have not made time for them yet. Blessings
Hi Kris,
I very much enjoy your emails/posts/blogs. They always brighten my day!
Do you start the morning with warm lemon water or oil pulling ?
My Best,
Betty
Dr. Richard Schulze, whose affirmations I love, recommends this one:
“BEGIN and end each day by saying ‘It’s great to be alive and I love myself and I love my life’.”
Sometimes I just breathe for 15 minutes, deep and from my belly. I couldn’t do that before I had cancer – I’d try to relax or watch a movie and just end up pacing my apartment, worried about little things and unable to stop my brain from spiraling them into huge what-ifs.
Now that a huge what-if happened, I still worry about some things sometimes, but I temper it with reality and awesomeness, and I can take a deep breath and just be. It’s a big improvement in the quality of my life.
So: “It’s great to be alive and I love myself and I love my life!”
So beautiful
Writing in the morning is a great idea! Thanks:) <3
I start my mornings with meditation while I’m still in bed. In that quiet time when your not really asleep but not really awake either. I find my mind is the most at peace at that time. Also, it’s nice to stay under the warm covers. I just sit up and rest my back against my pillow. Sometimes for just five minutes, sometimes for 20.
After that I scrape my tounge, floss and brush my teeth. Nothing ever makes me feel cleaner.
I have a glass of warm water and while letting the fluid go through my system I do some breathing excercises to get my blood circulating.
When I start my mornings this way I always feel more grounded and I don’t get stressed or upset as easy. When I don’t do it, I feel kind of weird all day. It feels like I’m missing something.
Thank’s Kris for a great post on the importance of a morning ritual. ❤️
I just love your Zen-like approach to life… you give such insight & inspiration Kris! You truely are a god-sent! Thanks for these peaceful day practices xox Oh, and I can’t wait for your new book! Congrats…. xox
